Pricing a job without losing money
The method: start from real cost, not from what the next guy charges.
What the job COSTS you
Materials at cost, rental, subcontracting, your hours × your rate, your travel per km. Add it up before thinking about the selling price.
Your hourly rate isn't your wage
It must cover your wage, contributions, vehicle, insurance, tools and non-billable hours (quoting, travel, admin). Someone charging €45/h doesn't earn €45/h.
Margin, not markup
A 1.3 markup on materials says nothing about overall profitability. What matters is what's left on the job once EVERYTHING is deducted.
Check afterwards
The only reliable pricing is the one compared to reality. Nexap computes the effective margin of every job: after ten of them, you know which ones pay.
Nexap applies these rules automatically from your profile.
